Dogs even found strange good conditions of the new Animal Collection Center of Porto

Porto Animal Collection Center, in Campanhã, started operating. Responsible adoption is one of the objectives of the strategy defined by the Chamber.

The differences are so many – for the better – that some animals that are being transferred from the old municipal kennel to the new Animal Collection Center in Porto are in isolation because they have difficulties adapting to the space. Providing comfortable accommodation, medical care and fostering responsible adoption are goals to be met. The animals have all been transferred. Despite being in operation, for the time being it remains closed to the public, due to the restrictions in force.

The new center is located next to the Viveiro Municipal, in the Areias area, in Campanhã. A vast green area that contrasts with the old and small facilities of Rua de S. Dinis, in the city center. “When we defined this animal control and welfare strategy in 2015, the objective was to build this space, because the old kennel is over 80 years old and does not offer minimum conditions, while promoting sterilization and adoption campaigns”, he explained to the JN Filipe Araújo, Councilor for the Environment.
