Does Sex Really Burn More Calories Than Exercise? This is the Fact

And even though many don’t like exercise, there’s one fun way to help shed those extra pounds: have sex.

One of the most well-known weight loss myths is that we can burn more calories during an intense sex session compared to traditional exercise. But how true is that claim? Does sex really burn more calories than exercise?

But some research shows that no matter how much sex we have, it will not replace it sport benefits.

A study by the University of Montreal (Canada), led by Professor Antony Karelis, attempted to calculate energy expenditure during sex in healthy young couples.

It was concluded that doing sex half an hour represents a caloric expenditure of 69 calories for women and 101 calories for men.

As Professor Karelis explains in his research, the difference in calories is because men weigh more on average than women. On the other hand, about 213 calories were burned in women and 276 calories in men in half an hour of running.

This indicates a large calorie difference between the two types of exercise. In fact, traditional exercise burns about three times as many calories, even though sex is very exciting.

It should be noted that intercourse usually does not last more than 15 minutes, and this result can be greater or less depending on the intensity.

Basically, according to experts that sexual activity can burn calories, but can not replace the function of exercise because the benefits are different.

While it’s not true that sex burns more calories than exercise, there are certain variables that burn more calories than usual on a passionate night. During a real sports workout, position, intensity and duration are key.

The same study from the University of Montreal highlights that the person who is on top during intercourse will always be the one to burn more calories due to natural movement and effort. While people who remain lying down are people whose expenses are lower.

According to research at the university, we can see who burns more calories during sex;

1. Sex burns more calories for women in a squatting position

For half an hour of sex, women can burn 188 calories when doing it in a squatting position.

These results can be higher if the speed and intensity are increased, reaching up to 224 calories. However, the same is not true for men who only burn 50 calories in this position.

2. Sex burns more calories when doggy style
