The Krasnogvardeisky District Court of Dnipro has sentenced the former head of the “LPR” Igor Plotnitsky and two separatists Alexander Gureev and Andrey Patrushev in the case of the shooting down of an Il-76 plane at the Luhansk airport in 2014, when 49 people died. All three were tried in absentia under Article 258 of the Criminal Code – a terrorist attack.

It is noted that for more than five years the case was in the courts, and on March 15 and 16, a verdict of 100 pages was read out in court.

At the time of the crime, Plotnitsky was the commander of the illegal armed formation Zarya, Patrushev was his deputy, and Gureev was the commander of the illegal armed formation Vityaz.


According to the court’s decision, Plotnitsky was found guilty and sentenced to life imprisonment. Patrushev and Gureev received the same sentences.
