Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Regional Leadership Council (DPD) Indonesian Youth National Committee (KNPI) DKI Jakarta proposed the mayor of Solo Gibran Rakabuming Raka as a candidate for the General Chair of the KNPI DPP for the period 2021-2024.

DKI KNPI DPD chairman Bambang Irawan assessed the eldest son of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) layak leads the KNPI DPP.

“We, the KNPI JAKARTA DPD will encourage and ask Gibran Rakabuming to nominate us to become the Chairman of the KNPI DPP in the Youth Unification / KNPI congress for the 2021-2024 term,” said Bambang in a written statement, Thursday (11/3).

Bambang stated that his party would muster the strength to pass Gibran into a candidate for the General Chairperson of the KNPI DPP. He also admitted that he was ready to win Gibran as Chairman by building the strength of the Youth Society Organization (OKP) and the KNPI DPD throughout Indonesia.

As chairman, Bambang also said that he would be the driving force for the mobilization of all voters who would become voters in the upcoming congress.

Furthermore, Bambang said that Gibran was a young man who had integrity, dedication and achievement. Therefore, according to him, Gibran deserves and deserves to reunite the vision and mission of Indonesian youth to become the most important part in maintaining unity and integrity.

“Therefore, we hope to appeal to Gibran Rakbuming’s brother to be ready to become the candidate for General Leader of DPP KNPI 2021-2024,” he said.

Bambang also proposed that the KNPI Congress be held in Solo City, Central Java.

“I propose a place for the youth congress / KNPI to be held in the city of Solo,” said Bambang.

It is known, previously the Chairman of the KNPI Haris Pratama was fired from his position. He, who was previously elected as General Chair of the KNPI DPP for the 2019-2021 period, was fired in a plenary meeting on Saturday (8/3).

Secretary General of the KNPI DPP Jacson Kumaat said Haris had violated the KNPI AD / ART related to organizational governance of decision-making and financial management, as well as organizational assets. According to him, Haris had never carried out one of the mandates of the XV KNPI Congress, namely holding a meeting of the Indonesian Youth Council (MPI) since two years of his leadership.

However, Haris stated that the plenary meeting was held by a number of individuals in organizations that do not have legal force. According to him, the decision letter at the plenary meeting did not have the organization’s official letter number. Haris stated that the plenary meeting was held only by a handful of people in the organization, which did not reach 40 people. In addition, the plenary session was not in accordance with the KNPI AD / ART.

The plenary forum, he said, could not dismiss mandates or decisions resulting from the organizational congress (election of ketum).

He guessed, the plenary that seemed to be done in order to fire himself was to make framing so that the KNPI leadership has joined other camps in the organization.

“The initiative may be those who want that there is a prejudice of a unification. This is messing up, there is a union by trying to divide the management of my KNPI DPP. No,” Haris told CNNIndonesia.com, Monday (8/3).

Haris himself recently made his name appear again to the public for reporting on Permadi Arya alias Abu Janda for alleged racism against the former Komnas HAM commissioner from Papua, Natalius Pigai.
