The 36-year-old Serbian world number one, fresh from the semi-final in Monte Carlo lost against Ruud, should return to action in Rome (6-19 May) to prepare for the Roland Garros, the second Slam of the year (of which he is the defending champion) scheduled in Paris from May 20th. The presence of Carlos Alcaraz, the defending champion in Madrid, is also in strong doubt: the Spaniard, who has already missed the Barcelona tournament, is struggling with a problem in his right forearm and will only release his reserves in the next few hours.
