Novak Djokovic is no longer infected with the corona virus. The Serb and his wife Jelena tested negative on Thursday, ten days after the couple announced they had the COVID-19 virus among its members.
Djokovic, 33, announced on June 23 that he and his wife were infected with the corona virus. The positive test was the result of his own controversial tennis tournament in Belgrade and Croatian Zadar, where no account was taken of the corona measures.
The event was halted on the closing day after Grigor Dimitrov tested positive for the coronavirus. After that it was also announced that tennis players Borna Coric and Viktor Troicki, the physical trainer of Djokovic and the coach of Dimitrov are infected.
The same was true for Djokovic and his wife, who incidentally had no noticeable symptoms. The seventeen-time Grand Slam winner decided to go into home insulation after his positive test and is now cured.
Djokovic received a lot of criticism for organizing the Adria Tour, a series of demonstration tournaments that he had devised as an alternative during this matchless period. During the tournament there was just a public welcome and the players kept no distance between themselves.
The tennis season has been stalled this month due to the corona crisis, but will resume in August. The next event on the WTA Tour is the clay court tournament in Palermo (August 3) and for the men it is the hard court tournament in Washington, which starts on August 14.
