“It took a lot out of me. But when I put up with the death of my child, I put up with this too,” says actress Veronika Žilková, looking back at the year-old event. Then, after spending a week together in Dubai, her husband, diplomat Martin Stropnický, informed her by e-mail that he was leaving their marriage and that he had found a partner almost three decades younger.
“But I dare say this was almost worse! Because the child was sick and could not blame for the pain he caused you. But when someone does this to you knowingly, the mind and heart do not understand. The child did not want to die, but he wanted me to leave,” Žilková spared no harsh words for lightning. She thus recalled the passing of her son Melichar, whose father was Stropnický, who was born with a diaphragmatic hernia and lost his fight for life after 198 days spent in pain.
A year ago, Žilkova’s husband announced that he was leaving her mainly because he wanted to enjoy something more at his age. He is currently maintaining a relationship with his subordinate at the embassy in Israel, where he works as the Czech ambassador.
Žilková did not stay alone for long, however, and found a new love in the former Argema band leader Josef Holomač. “He had no idea that because he wanted to enjoy himself, now I was finally enjoying myself. I thought to myself, how I actually got old prematurely because of marriage,” says the actress, who, according to her own words, has long since passed the worst. “I had to deal with it, grit my teeth and believe that time is the best medicine for everything,” she concluded the personal topic.
