Disturbed countryside, closed schools … Seine-Saint-Denis at the time of the coronavirus

According to the latest update communicated this Sunday evening by the Regional Health Agency (ARS) of Ile-de-France, 16 people are contaminated by the coronavirus in Seine-Saint-Denis. A total of 226 people have been identified throughout the region.

Without being dazzling, this spread has many repercussions on the territory.

The disrupted election campaign

Friday, the city of Le Bourget announced that one of the running mates of the mayor Yannick Hoppe (UDI) – candidate for the municipal elections of next Sunday – had been contaminated by Covid-19. The campaign has been suspended for the weekend.

This Sunday evening, the city councilor announced that the elected official “is still hospitalized, but the doctors say that he is fine. His condition does not inspire more concern. As a precaution, several containment measures have been taken by the ARS for people who have been in contact with this elected official in recent days. “Until we understand how my assistant got the virus,” continues Yannick Hoppe.

In Bobigny, the candidate Sylvain Léger (LFI) also decided to cancel his meetings “as a precautionary principle”. “If someone was infected during one of my meetings, I would not forgive myself. And I think that all the candidates should do the same, ”blows the elected official, who continues, on the other hand, his door-to-door operations.

Seven days before the elections, several cities announced that they had taken measures to prevent the spread of the virus on polling days. In Aubervilliers, the 24 offices will be disinfected several times a day during the ballot. Hydroalcoholic gels will be made available to teams and voters, as well as single-use pens to sign the registration lists.

In Les Lilas, the municipality also indicated that the polling stations will be regularly ventilated on Sunday and disinfected the day before and the day after the elections.

Already three schools closed…

This Monday morning, the students of the Jacqueline-Quatremaire nursery school, in Drancy, will stay at home. The school closed on Friday following the discovery of an infection of one of its replacement teachers by the Covid-19.
