Disturbances and provocations in Darmstadt – throwing a bottle on police officers

Sometimes up to 17 strips were used to prevent accumulations and calm the heated mood.

Shortly after midnight, residents had reported disturbances from the orangery. Patrols from the 2nd police station then found around 100 people in the orangery. When the officers wanted to establish the identity of an 18-year-old who had insulted the officers and was clearly under the influence of alcohol, people standing around showed solidarity and tried to prevent the measures by expressing displeasure and hitting the patrol car. Several strips were required for support. In order to prevent further crimes or administrative offenses, the police cleared the orangery. The people still present then left the area.

Around 2.30 a.m., a fight in the area of a restaurant in Schustergasse was reported to the 1st police station. The rushing stripes found around 50 people, some of them heavily drunk, some of whom had already got into another argument. Numerous strips were required in support. During the police measures, strangers threw a glass bottle from Kleinschmidtsteg at the officers. Possible injuries could only be prevented through the quick reaction of the officers. The police then cleared the footbridge and the area in front of the restaurant. The people still present were sent off. In order to prevent new accumulations, there were more and more strips in the city center until the early hours of the morning.

With regard to the throwing of the bottle, charges were made for assaulting police officers and attempting dangerous bodily harm. The investigation into the hitherto unknown perpetrator has been taken over by the recently established subject area at the criminal investigation department, which deals exclusively with offenses in connection with violence against emergency services. Witnesses who can provide information about the hitherto unknown perpetrator are asked to contact the investigators of the ZK20 on 06151 / 969-0.

Due to the incidents, the police will be more active in the city area over the weekend of Pentecost, consistently intervene in the event of criminal offenses or administrative offenses and carry out controls.
