Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) – Anyone who wants to be tested for the corona virus will no longer have to wait that long for the result. There are now more laboratories in the southwest that can evaluate the test. In addition to a laboratory at the State Health Office in Stuttgart, there is also such an offer at the Freiburg University Hospital. At the university clinic in Heidelberg, the samples taken can be examined from the end of the week. “We can now shorten the time between taking a sample and the result enormously,” explained a spokesman for the Freiburg University Hospital on Wednesday. There, a man was already tested for the lung disease, who received his – negative – result after two to three hours.

Hospitals without evaluation options have to rely on the diagnostics of the Berlin Charité. The waiting time is 24 hours. The Freiburg University Hospital spokesman explained that only if the test result is positive will the result be verified again in Berlin. So far, several people had been tested for the pathogen at Heidelberg University Hospital and in the Robert Bosch Hospital (RBK) in Stuttgart. In none of the cases did the suspicion substantiate.
