Nationalgeographic.co.id—A study published in Journal of Systematic Palaeontology on August 18, 2021 has described the discovery of three new species of ancient creatures. The new species found in the Great Divide Basin, Wyoming, United States is the early life of modern mammals.

These prehistoric mammals lived around North America during the earliest Paleocene Age. The life of these prehistoric mammals was only a few hundred thousand years from the Cretaceous-Paleogene, when the dinosaurs became extinct.

The findings suggest a rapid evolution immediately after the mass extinction of the dinosaurs. This suggests mammals diversified more quickly after the mass extinction than previously thought.
