After the assemblies held on July 24 and 25 where various issues were defined in the Dimayor, especially on the departure of Jorge Enrique Vélez as president, there are several pending details that must be finalized on August 7, the day in which He will elect a new president to govern the destinies of professional soccer in Colombia.
In dialogue with the communications department of Atlético Nacional, its president Juan David Pérez spoke about the characteristics and challenges that await this new president, warning that it would be ideal to take time to learn about the qualities of the candidates.
“Before thinking about names, we must define what we want what we are looking for to direct the destinies of the Dimayor, define the competencies and the managerial and managerial profile of that person, what model of leadership they must have and from that, we must consider the names, ”said Pérez.
Regarding the new president, the purslane leader explained that “he must be a person with experience and a high sense of leadership, with great capacity for work and adaptability to change. Have knowledge and powers to execute, manage, plan and project innovative ideas for the benefit of football. Knowledge and experience will be very important, but also skills to define strategies, with the audacity to innovate and generate confidence in the 36 teams, in the National Government and with public opinion, that is conciliatory, good communicator and motivating in the world. of football ”.
In addition, “several names have been mentioned, that the people who are going to evaluate them, have the qualities to make them a suitable person in this position. The deadline of August 7 is premature, we know the urgencies we have, but that cannot lead us to make hasty decisions. As long as the person is found, the 36 presidents can advise the president in charge until a successor is defined. Large companies take several months to define their successors and it is something that cannot be decided on the run. Similarly, that date has already been defined for the assembly and we must be prepared to make those decisions. ”
Regarding economic issues, Juan David expressed that “the Dimayor is an organization that, before the pandemic, had projected income of 80 billion pesos, an entity of this magnitude needs a first-rate work team. About the next president’s salary, it is something that can be reviewed, but the problems are not on that side. If we choose a high-level executive, that salary can be paid, even considering bonuses and variables. ”
Finally, the manager pointed out the challenges that this new president will have to face, especially with improving the image that has deteriorated in recent months with his predecessor. “Upon arrival you will have to face complex issues, the urgent cannot replace the important. We must define the strategic framework of our organization, there are debates to define in the organization of the championship, generation of new income, commercial development, management of our brand, income distribution model, support mechanism for affiliated clubs, support for youth soccer , move forward in matters of financial fair play, internationalization and strengthening with local authorities, especially they are the owners of the stages where we play the matches. ”
