Diligent Consumption of Chocolate Once a Week? It’s Good For Your Heart Health

Even for some traditions, chocolate is a gift that must be given.

In addition, eating chocolate also turns out to be good for lot health, especially for your heart.

The health benefits of chocolate consumption were revealed from a recent study published in the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology on Wednesday (07/22/2020).

Researchers from several medical institutions, including Mayo and Cleveland Clinics, examined 6 studies on chocolate consumption and heart health involving 336,289 international participants.

Researchers aim to find out whether there is a significant relationship between chocolate and coronary artery disease.

The study found that people who reported eating chocolate at least once a week had a lower risk of coronary artery disease than those who rarely consumed chocolate or none at all.

There is no definite measure regarding how much chocolate must be eaten to benefit the heart, but the study authors say that the amount of chocolate consumed that much does not have more effects on health.

The researchers put forward the theory that compounds in chocolate such as polyphenols and flavanols can improve heart health by reducing inflammation and increasing levels of HDL or good cholesterol in the blood.

This study supports previous research which states chocolate can benefit our health, improve blood pressure and other cardiovascular factors.
