Dijon: Sylvain Comparot, head of LREM list, will vote for Emmanuel Bichot (LR) in the second round

Sylvain Comparot obtained 8.81% of the votes in the first round of the 2020 municipal elections in Dijon. Not enough to stay in the second round.

Three lists will be represented on June 28, if the polling date is maintained: that led by the outgoing PS mayor François Rebsamen and came out on top in the first round, that of the ecologist Stéphanie Modde and the one taken by Emmanuel Bichot, invested in particular by Les Républicains.

Sylvain Comparot did not wish to merge with one of these lists, as his score in the first round allowed. “I did it without any hesitation, thus respecting the solemn commitment made before the Dijonnaises and Dijonnais”, he said in a statement sent on June 11.

In the absence of a merger, the candidate invested by LREM and the UDI decides for his favorite for the second round. And the former member of the Socialist Party chose the right candidate. I will vote for the program defended on behalf of the Republican right by Emmanuel Bichot, he explains. “A quick reading of our respective programs clearly shows that they meet on many points”, he justifies.

No question for him to turn to François Rebsamen or Stéphanie Modde. For the first, he deplores “disagreements […] too many”. He says he cannot vote “for a candidate using each city council as a platform against the policy of the presidential majority at the national level.”

For the second, despite “common goals” for “a greener and more participative city”, he regrets that she had to decide “to stand against [François Rebsamen] without resigning from his duties as deputy “.” The change in political practices requires knowing how to lose your privileges to defend your convictions “, he adds.
