The conflict between cyclist Lorena Wiebes and her team Parkhotel Valkenburg has been resolved. Both parties have reached an agreement whereby Wiebes will continue to race for her team for the time being; she will stay with the team until 1 June 2020. After that, she gets the space to shift.
At the end of December, the Dutch champion stated that she no longer wanted to play for Parkhotel Valkenburg. The cycling talent said she wanted to switch to a larger team, although she has a contract with her current team until the end of 2021. If necessary, Wiebes said, she would stop cycling on 1 January.
On Tuesday, the quarrel between Wiebes and her team seemed to harden further, when Parkhotel Valkenburg announced that it would take summary proceedings against the rider for breach of contract. The case that was supposed to serve Thursday is now gone.
