DIJON: Races for the benefit of the fight against breast cancer

Odysséa Dijon is back this Saturday, June 4, for a 17th edition. Objective, run or walk physically or in connected mode, to raise funds for the fight against breast cancer.

The association celebrates its 20th anniversary

Odysséa was born from the desire of three women who had, and still have at heart, to act together in favor of the fight against breast cancer. Odysséa created its first edition in Paris in 2002, bringing together 1,000 women at the foot of the Eiffel Tower. For 20 years the adventure has continued and the association has continued to grow by offering a circuit of races and walks throughout France, allowing the collection of nearly 12 million euros thanks to the mobilization of more than 1 million participants

Always more participants in Dijon

“Thanks to the mobilization of 6,300 participants, 51,000 euros were collected and donated to three local actors in the fight against breast cancer in 2021” explains Malik Assadi, organizer Odysséa Dijon, and to add “it is These are the Jean-Pierre Père association, the Carpe Diem 21 association and the Center Georges-François Leclerc. Since 2006, more than 430,000 euros have been collected for patients in the Bourgogne Franche-Comté region. And to conclude “The objective this year is always the same, to have a maximum of participants to donate a maximum of money in favor of the fight against breast cancer”

The Georges-François Leclerc Center

The CGFL, the Burgundy Franche-Comté regional center for the fight against cancer, is an innovative cancer care and research centre. Respectful of human realities and a center of excellence recognized for offering patients quality multidisciplinary care, thanks to a modern and efficient technical platform, the CGFL has established itself in more than 40 years as an essential medical and economic player in Burgundy Franche-Comte.

Carpe Diem 21

It is an association created by an oncologist from the city of Dijon, Ms. Boilleau-Jolimoy. It brings together people affected by cancer, during and after their treatment, as well as their families. The association offers these people adapted physical activities in order to fight against the disease, but also to regain their vitality and a positive image of their body. Carpe Diem has also been a recipient of funds from the Odysséa Dijon race for several years alongside the Center Georges François Leclerc.

The Jean-Pierre Association Dad

The main purpose of the creation of this association was the opening of La Mirandière in Quetigny in June 1993. Since then, its objectives have remained the same, such as supporting in its action the “La Mirandière” Palliative Care Unit which has become a service of the University Hospital of Dijon in 2005, but also to ensure the well-being of patients with progressive pathologies of all kinds in the terminal phase, or to train nursing staff and teams of volunteers for palliative care through the Health Territory of the Côte-d’ Gold

Connected races

Thanks to the free mobile application Odyssea you can train as many times as you want and accumulate kilometers in favor of the fight against breast cancer. Objective, take up the challenge remotely on the application before June 12th. The organizers are waiting for your training and end of race selfies.

Together let’s travel 45,000 km

At your own pace, you can travel 5 or 10 kilometers, alone, with friends, in a group and even with your company, physically or in online mode. The little ones will also be able to participate, over 1 km. Registration can be done on Saturday June 4 in the village, and on the website.

– 5 km walk + 5 km run, without stopwatch
– 10 km not timed

The entertainment village

As every year, events for registered and also for the general public who are not registered will punctuate this 17th edition from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Parc de la Colombière. Health professionals will answer questions at the information stands. The Georges François Leclerc Center will explain precisely what the money collected each year in Dijon is used for. Presence also of beneficiary associations. Access will be free.
