It is a scene of fear that the prosecutor of the Republic of Dijon (Côte-d’Or), Eric Mathais, described on Friday, announcing the indictment of a 24-year-old man. This individual is accused of having kidnapped and raped an 11-year-old schoolgirl in early January.
The story dates back to January 7. It is Thursday, it is around 10 o’clock. The teenager is walking to her school when a man grabs her and forces her into the back of a parked vehicle. The girl tries to call for help with her phone, but he threatens with a knife and takes her. The man then moves his car to park it at the end of a dead end. He then joins the child in the back of the vehicle and begins to kiss her before raping her.
Fifteen minutes later, the teenager is released by the individual who gives her back his phone. Once in college, the young girl testifies to what happened to her. The police were immediately notified. According to The Public Good, the management of the Saint-François-de-Sales college, where the child is educated, had sent an email to the parents of all the students to inform them.
DNA analysis to find the suspect
Following numerous DNA analyzes on the young girl, a connection is made with a family and then a young man of 24 is identified. He was then arrested on Wednesday. Placed in custody, he first contests all the facts before finally acknowledging the kidnapping on Friday morning. However, it remains “vague on the rest,” added the prosecutor.
This man, who lives in Dijon, has never been convicted and has no known psychiatric history. He was indicted for rape of a minor under 15 and kidnapping or forcible confinement. He faces a maximum of twenty years of criminal imprisonment if found guilty.
