The increase in NATO forces in the Black Sea region is not justified, said the head of the Russian delegation in the talks in Brussels
Bulgaria does not need additional protection against Russia – said Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko in an interview with the daily “Kommersant”, quoted by BNR.
According to Grushko, the increase in NATO forces in the Black Sea region is not justified in view of the real needs of ensuring security in the region.
“They say Romania and Bulgaria need to be protected because they are members of the bloc. From whom should Bulgaria be protected? From Russia? Bulgaria stands on the bones of Russian soldiers who sacrificed their lives for its liberation, “said Grushko, who led the Russian delegation during talks with NATO last week in Brussels.
According to him, the North Atlantic Alliance needs an adversary to justify its existence and expansion.
Asked what military-technical measures Russia will take if the United States and NATO reject its demands, Grushko said: “It will all depend on how the situation develops and what military potential can be used against our interests.”
