Deputy Mayor Imam Explains How the Depok City Government Reduces the Rate of HIV/AIDS Cases

jpnn.com, DEPOK – Pancoran Mas sub-district is the area with the highest number of HIV/AIDS cases out of 11 sub-districts in Depok City.

The Depok AIDS Commission (KPA) said that in Pancoran Mas there were 227 PLWHA (people with HIV AIDS).

Followed by Cimanggis District with 210 people living with HIV, and Sukmajaya District with 194 people living with HIV.

KPA Depok also said that from 2013 to September 2021 there were 1,244 cases of HIV/AIDS.

Of the 1,244, 904 were male and 340 female. It was recorded that there were 122 PLWHA who die, namely 74 men and 38 women.

Responding to this, Depok Deputy Mayor (Wawali) Imam Budi Hartono said that there is no other way to prevent HIV AIDS, for which there is currently no cure.

“We have to avoid it and don’t have sex indiscriminately, it must be in accordance with the legal partner in marriage,” said the Deputy Imam at the commemoration of World AIDS Day in the Lotus hall of the City Hall Building, Wednesday (1/12).

The Depok City Government also provides assistance to PLWHA in collaboration with pentahelix such as the business world, media, academia, government, MUI to communities and NGOs.

Depok City Government continues to try to reduce the rate of HIV/AIDS cases. Since 2013 until now there have been 1,244 cases in the region.
