Wakapolri Komjen Gatot Eddy Pramono said the National Police had evaluated the causes of the long traffic jams that had occurred on the Jakarta-Cikampek (Japek) toll road. He revealed that the first cause was the booming volume of vehicles.
Under normal conditions, the number of vehicles crossing the Japek Toll Road reaches 60 thousand. However, when traffic jams occur, the number of vehicles on the Japek Toll Road is recorded at 130 thousand.
“We have evaluated why there is traffic congestion. Of course we see that the volume of vehicles passing the toll road exceeds the normal limit,” said Gatot at Km 57 of the Cikampek Toll Road, West Java (West Java), Sunday (1/5/2022). ).
“If we look at yesterday, the number was approximately 130 thousand on the 30th. So the volume is quite high compared to vehicles passing the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road,” he continued.
Regarding the volume of vehicles, Gatot said traffic engineering has been carried out in such a way as to try to overcome the density of vehicle volumes.
“Steps were taken to solve the solution. Well one of them one way whose solution is to make one lane until the clock is finished, and contraflow her,” he said.
In fact, the police even had time to close the MBZ Elevated Toll Road so that more vehicles would not pile up on the toll road.
The second cause is the driver who pulled the vehicle on the side of the road. “(So) we urge you not to stop at the side of the road,” said Gatot.
The next cause is the large number of homecomers who enter the rest area.
On the return flow later, Gatot asked the public to find out in advance the point of congestion. That way, later residents who want to return from their hometowns can look for other alternative roads, including through the arterial route.
“So they can get the information that up-to-date. If there is a place where there is a traffic jam, they can anticipate and see which route. Because we are also preparing alternative routes, maybe via arterial (road) and so on,” he concluded.
