The Danish government has decided not to use the COVID vaccine of the American company “Johnson and Johnson”, a number of media reported today.
The information refers to a meeting convened by the Danish Minister of Health Magnus Hojnike.
The reason for the decision is fears that the vaccine, also known as “Jansen”, in rare cases can cause blood clots.
For the same reason, Denmark has already withdrawn AstraZeneca from its vaccination program.
Because the Johnson & Johnson vaccine is a single dose, Denmark has ordered too much, according to the Ritsaus news agency.
The director of the Danish health authority Soren Brostrom pointed out that the refusal to use the preparation of “Johnson and Johnson” may lead to healthy young people between 20 and 40 years to wait longer to get vaccinated, BTA reported.
The Danish national health authority has concluded that the benefits of using Johnson & Johnson’s COVID vaccine do not outweigh the risk of causing a possible side effect in people who have been vaccinated with it, the statement quoted AFP as saying.
Last month, U.S. authorities lifted the suspension of Johnson & Johnson after a “thorough safety study” sparked by reports of serious blood clots.
