With at least 2,000 participants, the procession set off in the calm of Charles-de-Gaulle Square. With the overflows recorded on the sidelines of the Parisian rally, the Toulousains feared clashes. The police indeed had to run after several small groups of hooded individuals, who degraded street furniture or burned garbage cans, before using tear gas. “At the end of the demonstration, a handful went directly to contact with the police who were behind,” said a witness.

One person also saw fit to throw a can of paint on City Hall. A window was broken and the parquet floor of the Salle des Illustres was damaged, angering the mayor. “Attacking the gems of Toulouse’s heritage in this way is unacceptable. Like most Toulouse men and women, I am distressed and scandalized to see, once again, a handful of ultras instrumentalizing an initially pacifist event to sow disorder and vandalize our city. At least four people were arrested last night. Three on the Boulevard de Strasbourg around 10 p.m. Arrested by the departmental intervention company (CDI), two young men, 19 and 24 years old, are suspected of having caused several fires.
