Delete WhatsApp Messages Now Takes Two Days Pause

TEMPO.CO, JakartaWhatsApp announced that users of the messaging app now have more than two days after sending a message to be able to delete it instead of just an hour.

“Think again message You? Now you will have a little more than 2 days to delete your message from your chat after you hit send,” wrote WhatsApp on its Twitter account, on Tuesday, August 9, 2022.

To start using the new feature today, go to WhatsApp groups or individual chats where you send messages. Make sure to tap and hold on the content you want to delete, click “Delete”, then select “Delete for everyone” or “Delete for me”.

But before you do the deletion, please note that all recipients need to be updated to the latest WhatsApp version for this to really work. Also you won’t actually receive a notification if the message isn’t deleted.

However, it could be a useful new feature that could help WhatsApp get a bit of an advantage over Apple’s iMessage instant messaging service. Apple, however, still doesn’t offer this capability.

For now, the iOS 16 beta only gives users two minutes to pull the plug — and only as long as the recipient has downloaded the beta as well.
