Pandemic obliges, Delémont’BD changes format and leaves its walls at the beginning of summer to exhibit in French-speaking Switzerland. The drawings of the cartoonists will be shown on the billboards of nine French-speaking cities.
Planned from June 19 to 21, the 6th edition will not take place in Delémont. Its organizers have decided to postpone the original program to 2021, they said in a statement on Wednesday.
But they did not stop there and innovated by proposing a ‘Delémont’BD hors les murs’, an edition which will be held from June 16 to 23, 2020. This will ‘give preference to Romance comic artists’, said Philippe Duvanel, its artistic director at Keystone-ATS.
These drawings will be on the walls of Bienne, Delémont, Friborg, Geneva, La Chaux-de-Fonds, Lausanne, Neuchâtel, Sion and Yverdon-les-Bains. Delémont’BD, one of the last born in Swiss comic book festivals, thus avoids a simple postponement of its initial program on the Web.
Maintained prices
For the time being, the festival intends to maintain its 2020 Delémont’BD Prize for the best Swiss comic book album and the best first Swiss comic book work. Their selections and discounts will, however, be postponed due to the slow activity of publishers and bookstores.
