Dekamarkt Amsterdam Supermarket Robbed in Fifth Recent Robbery Spree

The Dekamarkt supermarket in Amsterdam was the target of a robbery on Saturday evening. Around a quarter past seven, the supermarket on Slotermeerlaan was robbed. Image Michel van Bergen

The police received a report of the robbery around 7:15 p.m. The perpetrator threatened a cashier with a knife who then had to hand over money, according to a police spokesperson.

After the robbery, the perpetrator ran from the supermarket and made off with an unknown amount of money. He’s still on the run. The police are looking for the perpetrator and are calling on witnesses to come forward.

Fifth robbery

It is the fifth robbery at an Amsterdam supermarket in more than a week. A Lidl branch on Aalbersestraat in Amsterdam Nieuw-West was robbed on January 12, and a day later an Albert Heijn on Overtoom was the target. On Tuesday morning, two robbers threatened an employee of a supermarket in East Amsterdam with a firearm. On Tuesday evening there was a robbery at an Albert Heijn on Lambertus Zijlplein in Nieuw-West.
