Declining number of hits with parallel rise of Facebook Gaming

At Twitch, the number of streams viewed in June 2022 fell, as GamesIndustry.biz reported. At the same time, Facebook Gaming, which is currently being pushed by Meta, is gaining strength. In June, Twitch had 1.7 billion hours viewed by users. In May 2022, however, there were still 1.81 billion hours that users approved. In January 2022, it even started with over 2 billion hours accessed per month.

However, Facebook Gaming also had to struggle with falling user consumption in the spring, but then recorded moderate growth again in May 2022, which, unlike Twitch, was also able to be carried over into June. But this is probably also due to the slightly different focus. Twitch focuses on PC and console games in Western markets, while Facebook Gaming is currently focusing primarily on emerging countries.

YouTube Gaming would also be there, but achieves significantly lower viewing numbers than Twitch or Facebook Gaming. In June 2022, there were around 290 million hours of gaming live streams accessed. In contrast to Twitch, however, streams for mobile games are more popular with YouTube Gaming.
