In the beginning of January 2020, the Ministry of Finance, represented by the Customs Authority, begins applying the last tranche of customs reductions on Turkish imports of cars and their parts, in implementation of the free trade agreement between Egypt and Turkey.
The Customs Authority announced last January that the tariff reduction rates on Turkey’s imports had reached 90%, and indicated that the remaining 10% would be removed in 2020, thus making the import duties zero.
The “Toyota Corolla” family sedan and “Renault Megane” Grand Coupe, are among the most prominent cars coming to the Egyptian market through the factories of both Japanese and French companies in Turkey.
Toyota will receive a full customs exemption in early January next, as they are, according to experts, achieving a local component of 60%, which fulfills the requirements of the FTA between the two countries.
2020 Toyota Corolla is available in Egypt in five categories of equipment at official prices starting from 304.000 and up to 469,000 pounds, while Renault Megane is available in three categories of equipment at a price starting from 298,000 to 368,000 pounds.
Alaa El-Sabaa, a member of the General Automotive Division of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce, expected, in a previous statement to “Masrawy”, that the prices of cars coming from Turkey that meet the condition of the local component will fall, and the price ranges between 300 to 500 thousand pounds from 4 to 6 thousand pounds.

The new Toyota Corolla 2020 features an exterior that is inspired by the luxurious Toyota Camry, which carries the sporty features of the side lines on the doors and bonnet.
The Corolla relies on the crankshaft of a 1.6-liter VVT-I 4-cylinder engine with 120 horsepower, connected to a 5-speed manual transmission, and another automatic with CTV technology.

The upper Megane features leather upholstery, driver’s seat massage, a rear parking assist camera, electric hand brakes, tire pressure monitoring, electronic balance ESP, anti-theft alarm, engine start-stop button, and lighting-sensitive headlamps.
In contrast, Toyota Corolla is available with standard safety features, airbags, ABS, electronic brake distribution, EBD, and HAS.
Its highly-equipped class is also available with a sunroof; wireless charger to charge smartphones, with wireless connectivity to smartphones-Bluetooth, and an updated center console with a prominent 7-inch control screen running Entune 3.0 and supports Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, and Apple Car Play , In addition to digital meters with a Toyota logo in the center
The Corolla cabin is equipped with a large number of entertainment including a new multi-task steering wheel, dual automatic air conditioning in addition to the rear air vents, a smart car start switch, a rear camera, rear corner sensors, and rain sensors.
The luxury of the Megane cabin includes dual-band air conditioning, one-touch glass control, a trip computer and front and back headrests, as well as an 8.7-inch touch screen controller and audio system consisting of MP3 / DVD player, AUX input, USB and Bluetooth.
