Davina Michelle: Grand Prix Zandvoort was just a festival | show

The Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort was just a festival. That’s what singer Davina Michelle said in the program tonight HLF8. The singer performed the day before at the Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort, where she sang the national anthem.

“This was a festival, and that’s why everything was under fire,” said the singer in Johnny de Mol’s SBS talk show. ,,What I did was a tribute. If I had been asked to keep the audience warm with a show for free, I wouldn’t have done it.”

Michelle thinks that the outgoing cabinet can no longer afford to cancel festivals. The entertainment sector has been furious in recent weeks because football matches and the Grand Prix were allowed, but festivals and concerts were not. There was also a stir after Joshua Nolet, frontman of the band Chef’Special, had announced that artists were asked to perform for free during the event. Davina Michelle then said that she only wanted to perform if other artists would get paid. The organization of the Dutch Grand Prix subsequently decided to do so.

At the Grand Prix, the public also walked back and forth, there were performances and guests stayed at a campsite. Outgoing corona minister Hugo de Jonge acknowledged on Friday that ‘practice rubs against the rules’. According to the cabinet, the Dutch Grand Prix was allowed to continue because it was a staged event. Prince Bernhard, co-owner of the circuit in Zandvoort, stated on Friday that the organization has done everything right.

“We have now shown that it is simply possible”, Davina emphasized in HLF8. “There is no difference between this event and the festivals. So let’s go!”
