For the Corona period, the district started the family phone “The 3rd hand”. Experts not only help in stressful situations, but also provide inspiration for leisure time.
DARMSTADT-DIEBURG – (yes). With the offer “The 3rd hand”, the district has launched a family support program for the time during the corona pandemic. “The need for children, adolescents and families for corresponding support services is particularly great right now – many could literally use a third hand,” said Rosemarie Lück, Social Affairs and Youth Affairs Director at the start of the new offer.
Mothers and fathers have to reconcile home office, home schooling and household. In this exceptional situation, children and adolescents lack external caregivers whom they can trust. Some families are not allowed to leave the house due to a quarantine requirement and are dependent on outside support. Many parents wonder how the concentrated time together – especially in cramped living conditions – can be organized actively. This is answered on the free family telephone by experts from the disciplines of daycare advice, youth social work at schools and advice for parents, children and adolescents in the Darmstadt-Dieburg district. The team of experts listens, advises in dealing with conflict and stress situations and provides a wide range of support services, such as shopping and transport services or leisure activities.
