The initiator of the “lateral thinking” demos against corona restrictions is criticized for the lack of journalists. Now he gives in.

The Stuttgart initiator of the nationwide “lateral thinking” demos against corona restrictions, Michael Ballweg, has responded to criticism from press associations about the gauntlet of journalists: “Criticism has arrived and is also justified. It was never our intention to record journalists’ private addresses, ”but the address of the medium, wrote Ballweg of the Frankfurter Rundschau. This had reported on the behavior of the initiative to request a form with personal data from journalists before answering press inquiries.

Ballweg writes that the form has been adapted accordingly and that local initiatives have been informed. At events he points out that “we are a peaceful movement and the press representatives are part of our assembly”. One should “treat the press kindly”.

The German press council had attested the initiative “great prejudice against journalists”. In particular, the requirement that censorship does not take place ignores the fact that journalists do not practice censorship, but are victims of it. This passage has now disappeared, journalists should now only commit themselves to report “truthfully, impartially and completely”.

There are currently eleven regional “lateral thinking” initiatives. The first in the Rhein-Main area was founded in Darmstadt and has more than 740 members. According to the police, 600 people came to their demo last Saturday.
