ÜThe city of Darmstadt and the Darmstadt-Dieburg and Main-Kinzig districts reported confirmed new corona infections overnight. The numbers are small. However, the new cases are sufficient for the loss of the clean slate in view of the seven-day incidence, which is important for relaxation. These are the new cases among 100,000 inhabitants that occurred within seven days.
At present, only four districts still show the white slate described, i.e. a zero in the seven-day incidence: Gießen, Lahn-Dill, Limburg-Weilburg and Vogelsberg. All are in Central Hesse. In mid-June there was already a zero in ten counties, in addition to Darmstadt. There is now a 1 for six districts and Darmstadt. For this incidence the value 50 is the critical mark. If the value is higher, the authorities can restrict easing again.

With a view to the 7-day incidence, the Hersfeld-Rotenburg district has had the worst value for Hesse for days, a 22. This is where a corona outbreak among employees of Amazon in Bad Hersfeld is reflected. The next place is Kassel, where there was a corona outbreak in a home.

The Robert Koch Institute (RKI), in charge of disease control, reported 35 new infections in the morning for all of Hesse. The previous day there were only three new cases. The increase is 0.3 percent. Since the beginning of March, the infections have totaled 10,613 nationwide. There are around 9800 patients who are considered recovered. That’s 100 more than on Monday. Most infections are still united in Frankfurt. There are 1741 in number, 56 were reported within a week. Offenbach only has 179, 14 of them within the past seven days. The incidence value is below 10 in each case.
Another good news: the RKI has not become aware of any further deaths related to the pandemic. It remains at 501 corona victims. Therefore, the ratio of recovered to deaths has increased from 19.3 to 19.56.
Students and teachers tested
Meanwhile, girls and boys and teachers who had contact with two students who tested positive were tested at a comprehensive school in Frankfurt. Results are not yet available, as we learned. The city has also announced tests at a primary school this Tuesday. This school was closed on Monday.
With regard to the number of those who have recovered, however, the following restriction must always be observed: As the RKI informed the FAZ, it does not officially collect data on the number of those who have recovered. The survey is also not provided for by law. “However, at least in the cases in which most of the information was determined, which had no severe symptoms and which were not admitted to a hospital, it can be assumed that they will have recovered after 14 days at the latest,” it says in Berlin on Headquarters of the institute. The RKI only estimates the number of those who have recovered.
The RKI takes into account those cases that were transmitted at midnight on the respective day. “The reporting date is used to display the newly transmitted cases per day – the date on which the local health department became aware of the case and recorded it electronically,” says the institute’s website. A few days could pass between the notification by the doctors and laboratories to the health department and the transmission of the cases to the responsible state authorities and the RKI. In such cases, there is talk of delayed reporting.
