This year, due to epidemiological reasons, it was not possible to organize a full tour, but we cannot imagine August without Mskie Grania in ywiec. The music that surprises every year and gives a lot of good energy was made by the robot this time. Although there were no crowds in front of the stage. During this unique concert, the performers emphasized that the public is important, but that safety is also important.
Mskie Granie 2020 – amazing duets as always
What happened in ywiec? Already at the beginning, the magnetic Katarzyna Nosowska appears on the stage, to whom – as it was announced – Mata was to join at one point. This is a perfect example of how Mskie Granie experiments and in a non-obvious way or different musical styles. She is a woman-legend, one of the most interesting singers of the Polish music scene and the author of many beautiful texts, present on the stage since the beginning of the 90s of the last century. His “Patointeligency” debuted on the web at the end of 2019, now it has over 35.5 million plays. Together they performed “Nero” from the rapper’s album “100 dni do matura”.
But it was not the only duo of this concert. Well, not even the only duo of Nosowska that day! At one point, the singer performed “Mwia mi mother” together with her son Mikoaj Krajewski. It was brilliant! For years sponsored by live Mskie Granie we got used to surprising with interesting combinations of artists – then there were energetic Bass Astral X Igo, who invited Baej Krl to the stage – together they sang “Drug Pomoc” from Krla’s album “Immoderate”. On the other hand, the Crisis will join Walu Kraksa for a moment when Krl takes over a half of the scenes.
Tomasz Organek and Daria Zawiaow against violence from “Niemioci”
The duo of Daria Zawiaow and Tomasz Organek, who together performed “Niemio” from the repertoire of the latter, was very touching. Before singing the first verse, Organek said, why did they choose this song:
Dantesque scenes are happening in Warsaw, people are fighting. This song is against violence.
In “Niemioci” it rains, among others, such an owl:
Walk along the street and you hear me shout that there is one right, above all, not two. / Whether you are with them or against, we have gas and brass knuckles / and BG is with us, I don’t know if you know.
– We are very emotional due to yesterday’s events. It will be a very emotional evening for all of us – added Zawiaow after the song, thanking Organek and announcing the last song of her set. Then Dawid Podsiado will appear at the microphone, who will play his songs in arrangements prepared for the interruptions due to the pandemic of “Lena Muzyka” tours.
Mskie Granie Orkiestra – night in ywiec is “dawn”
This year’s hymn of Mski Grania is the fruit of cooperation between Daria Zawiaow, Krla and Igo. Together, they wrote the text and – together with Olek in the fuss – composed the musician. The song was produced by the rhyme and Andrzej Smolik. The music video is directed by Daniel Jaroszek, a talented director of the young generation, who has been cooperating with the best Polish musicians for years. It was clear that we would hear a “feast” in Żywiec, but what else did the Mskie Playing Orkiestra show?
As the MGO members said before the performance, for the first time all the artists will be on stage all the time – even if someone has a lead voice in the song, the rest support him on stage. And it really was like that in the “Divine Buenos” from the Maanam repertoire sung by Dari Zawiaow or in Pudelsw “Watch out for him”. About this second song, Igo says that he thinks the new version of the song came out “brilliant and just drifted out of us” – indeed, it sounds very modern and stylish.
Among the mountain peaks a song that some young fans of Mskie Grania might not even associate: “Pon play, pon forests” of Red guitars sounded sensational. This track from the beginning of the 70’s got a new life in which elements of reggae, grail folklore and rock are intertwined musically with the use of saxophones! I’m sure this song will be on many Mskie Grania fan pleiners. Anyway, we can no longer wait for the question on which we will hear again, among others cover of one of Dawid Podsiado’s songs, interpretation of “Korowód” by Marek Grechuta or “Bananowy song” by Vox. “Refreshed” Mskie Granie Orkiestra showed musical courage and strength! And also social involvement, showing rainbow flags on stage and appealing: “Let’s respect each other, everyone”. Dawid Podsiado, Tomasz Organek and Mata also appeared on the stage with them.
