Daniel Guéret (Chartres) will lead a various right-wing list in the senatorial elections in Eure-et-Loir

Daniel Guéret (DVD, Chartres), 59, head candidate for the senatorial elections of September 27 in Eure-et-Loir, will not present his running mates until the end of next week but he is already announcing a mixed cast ” rural and urban candidates “. Historical figure of the local right, the former departmental boss of the RPR then of the UMP and of LR (between 1987 and 2015), does not nourish, he affirms, any complex of notoriety: “I am neither better placed , nor more badly placed than another. ”

Senatorial elections: the strengths and weaknesses of declared or anticipated candidates

“I am leaving with my Gaullist label, with a various right-wing list, including an LR candidate,” announced this Friday August 28, the departmental councilor of Chartres 1, vice-president at Chartres Métropole and deputy mayor of Chartres.

Baptized “Territories of Eure-et-Loir – The union of towns and villages”, and supported by Claude Térouinard (DVD, Brou), the president of the Departmental Council of Eure-et-Loir, the list of Daniel Guéret s ‘Inscribed precisely, he explains, in the ideological matrix of the head of the Department, “not to oppose the territories”, to embody “a link”, “a unity” between city and countryside.

Relay the concerns of elected officials

Daniel Guéret, who also benefits from the support of the executive of Chartres-Métropole, also registers his candidacy with the objective of “breaking the verticality of decisions”, “proposing an alternative” and “further relaying the concerns of the elected officials of Eure -et-Loir “.

This is the reason why, he specifies, the candidate has more assembled a list of local elected officials who “work on a daily basis in their territory and carry out projects every day”, than composed “a territorial sweep” or a cast of “prestigious candidates”.

If he is elected, he announces that he will sit in the majority LR group, alongside the President of the Senate, Gérard Larcher (LR), but without taking his card from LR: “If that poses a problem, I will sit elsewhere. ” Locally, in the event of an election, his entry into the Upper House would force him to give up certain mandates in order to respect the law on non-accumulation: “I would remain a municipal and community councilor and I would give up the Department”.

The senator’s work is not limited to his national activity

He also undertakes to defend the identity of Eure-et-Loir and the A154 file, to support “the course of energy transition”, to try to unite the parliamentarians of Eure-et-Loir and to achieve a tour of the whole of the territory during his first six months of mandate: “This is the essential work of the senator, it is not limited to national activity.”

In the unprecedented context of the Covid crisis, the candidate will lead, he emphasizes, a “simple” campaign “respectful of barrier gestures”, articulated around seven mornings, in order to meet the grand voters.
