Dangerous virus spreads on Android smartphones – La Nouvelle Tribune

We are in an era where smartphones are now an integral part of our daily lives. The advent of smartphones has also contributed to the proliferation of mobile applications which make things a lot easier for us in everyday life. Currently, a computer virus is circulating and it is particularly present under the operating system Android. It’s about malware FakeSpy which has been active since 2017.

It must be said that the FakeSpy virus has been constantly evolving for three years now, it was developed by a group of Chinese cybercriminals. The virus was designed primarily for the Japan and the South Korea but thereafter, FakeSpy has been deployed in Europe, North America and Asia. The malware proceeds as follows: he sends an SMS concerning a delivery of a parcel or pretending to be some postal service in order to trap his victims and make them click on the link indicated in the message. If the victim clicks on the link, the trap closes on them.

Very ingenious malware

The victim is then redirected to another website where they will be encouraged to download an application. Once this application is installed on the phone, the virus deploys and spies on its victim. Thanks to this process, FakeSpy has managed to collect a lot of personal data.

Once it is inside a smartphone’s system, the malware takes control which is dangerous. A few days ago, cybersecurity researchers put forward the architecture of Fake spy. It appears that the only way to protect against this malware is to be wary of messages from unknown sender and especially those attributed to official institutions.
