Daily Schmankerl: Kingsley Coman balking at extension talks with Bayern Munich as Manchester United lurks?; Chelsea makes Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland top priority; Lionel Messi bought a house in France?; and MORE!

Per a report from kicker, Bayern Munich wants to sign winger Kingsley Coman to a contract extension through the 2025/2026 season, but negotiations are “interrupted at the moment.”

There was a lot of talk that Manchester United had swooped in last summer with an inviting offer to Coman, but the Frenchman was not eager to move at the time. Now it seems as if Manchester United is ready to throws heaps of cash at Coman:

Is Bayern Munich willing to almost double Coman’s salary from €8.5 million per year to €15.6 million per year to at least match Manchester United’s alleged offer? I guess we will soon find out.

One interesting thing to keep an eye on in the wing rotation under Hansi Flick. Flick has done a good job of keeping Coman, Serge Gnabry, and Leroy Sane happy thus far, but surely each player wants to be the “Alpha” of the group and when healthy, there will always be at least one “odd man out.”

There are big rumors that Chelsea is yet another club ready to break the bank for Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland:

Chelsea remain undeterred in their ambitious bid to sign Erling Haaland this summer despite claims the Borussia Dortmund striker is not interested in a move to Stamford Bridge. The Blues have placed Haaland at the top of their transfer target list in preparation for another summer of heavy investment, the PA news agency understands.

Haaland is a force of nature and the thought of him torching the Premier League is nice, but I’d much rather see him stay in the Bundesliga at least one more year.

This has been floating around for a few days, but I am convinced that Norway is creating an army of Haaland clones:

I am a sucker for any pics that get “aged” and these are excellent. The whole string is just fantastic:

Seriously, Ron-Thorben Hoffmann looks like 100 older folks I’ve seen in my life, while Joshua Kimmich looks like a fella you might want to keep away from your drink at 2AM.

A report out of Italy says that many of Europe’s elite are circling around Sassuolo 16-year-old phenom Haley Bugeja. After scoring five goals in Euro 2022 Qualifying, Bugeja has impressed so far this season in the Serie A Women. With six goals in eleven appearances, Bugeja has helped Sassuolo to third in the table, just five points out of a spot in next season’s Women’s Champions League.

It is said that Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Levante, Juventus, and Lyon are all interested in her talent. Bayern have shown that they’re willing to bring in young talented players, as demonstrated by this winter’s signing of Karólína Lea Vilhjálmsdóttir from Iceland.

This could mean everything or nothing — if true — for Lionel Messi’s future with FC Barcelona:

According to Qatari media reports Qatar Today , Lionel Messi has just bought a villa in Paris. Which could well imply that the Argentine number 10 would like to settle in France in the coming months. A purchase to prepare for his future transfer to PSG? The future will tell.

It is still hard to envision Messi leaving Barcelona, but if it is ever going to happen, this summer might be the time.
