Muhammadiyah will come out definitive in Solo from 18 to 20 November. Former president of Muhammadiyah Youth Center Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak I hope the congress is not just talking about leadership structure.
“Congratulations on making the Muktamar Muhammadiyah in Solo. We wish the Solo congress to be joyful, forward and enlightening. We hope all the congress will not just get stuck discussing the structure, composition of future leadership of Muhammadiyah, as a movement, Muhammadiyah is very mature and never depends on figures but relies on the system and autonomous congregations,” Dahnil said in his statement on Wednesday (11/16/2022).
Personally, Dahnil does not emphasize the discourse of elders or younger in Muhammadiyah’s leadership structure. According to him, the thoughts and movements of the organization in the future are important.
“I am not at all interested in the discourse on the biological age of Muhammadiyah’s leadership, as to whether it should be filled with old or young people. For me this discourse is actually backward. I am only interested in the discourse on Muhammadiyah’s thoughts and movements that can be a solution for modern life,” he said.
He believed that all the named figures were Muhammadiyah’s best paintings. Dahnil hopes congress attendees will focus on ensuring the renewal movement goes forward.
“I believe that all who are nominated and are willing to be nominated are Muhammadiyah’s best cadres and deserve to lead. Hence, the Muktamirin must focus on ensuring that, as a Movement, Muhammadiyah does not lose its tajdid (renewal) spirit. The spirit of progress. Amidst the changing dynamics of da’wah,” he said.
Dahnil assessed that Muhammadiyah must have a formula that advances in relation to the dynamics of contemporary life. For this reason the renewal of Muhammadiyah volume II is necessary.
“People need guidance for fighting politics, for example, they need guidance for contemporary economic struggles and so on. If Mbah Dahlan used to start a modern movement with various reforms, what are the products of reform of Muhammadiyah now? This is what Muhammadiyah must do in the future. Muhammadiyah must enter the renewal phase of the 2nd century after the 1st century of Muhammadiyah serving Indonesia and the world,” he said.
