Dacia’s Future Plans: 3rd Generation Duster, Bigster, and C-Néo Project

The 3rd generation Dacia Duster is almost ready for launch and will appear on the streets in the spring of 2024, and the constructor under the Renault umbrella is working hard on the Bigster, the big 7-seater “brother” of the SUV of the But Renault, it seems, aims even higher with the Dacia brand.

If in April 2023, the first information appeared about the secret project “C-Néo” regarding a compact Dacia model, “C” class, with a hatchback, located on the border between a station wagon and a crossover, to compete, for example, with Skoda Scala, VW Golf, Citroën C4, Kia Ceed or Fiat Tipo, and a sedan model, in three volumes, with trunk, to take the place of the Renault Fluence, for example, as well as about the transformation of the Stepway equipment level into a model of independently, recently, sources within Groupe Renault of journalists from Largus.fr they talked about a Dacia family station wagon, hybrid and 4×4.

Dacia is preparing a hybrid and 4×4 family station wagon. Stepway over €30,000?

Denis Le Vot, the general manager of Dacia, made the “C” segment the new target of the brand under the Renault umbrella.

Dacia’s “war” in this class will start in the second half of 2025 with the launch of the Bigster (internal code R1310), a family SUV with 5 and 7 seats, named Bigster (internal code R1310).

Then there’s talk of two more Dacia ‘C’ segment models on the Bigster’s platform starting in 2026, a hatchback and a sedan. And accordingly, Largus.frDacia is also preparing a hybrid and 4×4 family station wagon.

In an interview, Denis le Vot explained that these categories of vehicles are gradually disappearing in the “C” segment among competitors and that the remaining models will be converted to electric power when they are renewed (eg Peugeot 308, Volkswagen Golf and Opel Astra). And Dacia intends to take advantage of this “doorway” to widen its range and to increase its sales and profitability.

The Dacia models included in the “C-Néo” project will measure around 4.60 meters in length, say French journalists. And, as during a visit to the design center in Bucharest, the manufacturer left some sketches visible, those from Largus.fr made a rendering of what could be the future Dacia family station wagon with propulsion system including hybrid and integral traction. Of course, at this stage, they are only sketches, but the future station wagon confirms Dacia’s desire to make its products more desirable.

Internally called the K1320, the upcoming Dacia family station wagon adopts the styling elements of the Bigster model and stands out for its elevated and robust appearance, in line with the brand’s image. The same goes for the upcoming ‘C’ class sedan (B1320), which is said to adopt a fastback silhouette with a rear window and a steeply raked tailgate.

The new Dacia “C” segment models will share the platform and engines with the Bigster. The 140PS 1.2 48V three-cylinder powerplant will be available on petrol and LPG, as will the new 1.8 Hybrid, which will be introduced on the 5-7 seater SUV, and the 1.2 48V LPG version with 4×4 will have a new dual clutch gearbox (DW23).

The all-wheel drive will be provided electrically, by a motor located on the rear axle, which will provide a total power of approximately 160 HP.

Then, to reduce global CO2 emissions, Dacia could later introduce a rechargeable version of the 1.8 Hybrid model, says Largus.fr.

How could the future Dacia family station wagon cost more than 30,000 euros? The top version of the Jogger Hybrid 140 currently starts at 26,000 euros, VAT included. And soon the third generation of the Dacia Duster SUV will enter the scene, which will also have a hybrid version, which will most likely make the most expensive Dacia reach 30,000 euros.

Then, the first Dacia over €30,000 will make its debut on the market in the second half of 2025, with the launch of the Dacia Bigster 7-seater SUV (hybrid and 4×4 version), a model that will compete, for example, with Citroën C5 Aircross or Peugeot 5008. Therefore, the price of the Dacia family station wagon in hybrid and 4×4 version will not be far away either.
