Czech Rider and Prague Lions Manager Anna Kellnerová Believes in Podium Despite Fourth Place Finish

Czech rider and manager of the show jumping team Prague Lions Anna Kellnerová believed in the podium before today’s Super Cup final, but she was also happy with the final fourth place. She praised the competitors for their fighting spirit and was grateful for the record support of the fans at the O2 arena.

Although she did not hide her sadness that the Prague Playoffs were held in the Czech Republic for the last time, she said in an interview with journalists that she wants to continue improving with the team. He hopes that the Global Champions League will eventually return to the Czech Republic.

“For sure, joy prevails. Of course we would like to be on the box, but we feel joy. The team is improving every year and we are moving a little higher. It would be amazing if we were on the podium from the start, but sometimes drivers and teams have to work harder . From there we are here to gradually continue upwards,” said Kellnerová.

The Prague Lions team appeared in the O2 arena for the fifth time, reaching the finals for the second time in a row. In the two-round competition, his drivers paid 28 penalty points. The third team Paris Panthers had eight less. Mexican Fernando Martinez Sommer (20) collected the most points, Belgians Niels Bruynseels and Pieter Devos added four each.

“The parkour here was extremely challenging every day. You get a little better every year. Niels and Pieter have done an awful lot of difficult races and are extremely experienced. Fernando also has experience, of course, but not as much as the guys. It’s about how they are on that horse, rider and everything together,” said Kellner and supported Martinez Sommer.

Nevertheless, her team recorded the best result in front of the home fans in the last year of the Prague Playoffs. A record 39,212 fans also visited the O2 arena in Liben in four days. Kellnerová appreciated the tradition that has been built in the Czech Republic in five years. She was even more sorry that the competition was held in Prague for the last time. It will be replaced by a plant in Saudi Arabia next year.

“It’s definitely sad. Not only have we gotten used to the Prague Playoffs, but what we’ve built here and what the fans have built is something absolutely incredible,” said Kellner.

However, the Prague Lions team will continue under her leadership. Kellner would like to improve his performance. “The core of the team will remain the same. The one who introduced himself here will continue. But at the moment we are discussing some changes to add a little more strength to the team and perhaps support it with a rider who would help with his experience and horses. We would like to move even higher,” noted the twenty-six-year-old competitor.

Although Prague will be missing from the Global Champions League calendar next year, Kellnerová believes that the competition will return to the Czech Republic in time. “We certainly hope so. It’s not at all an easy way to make something like this possible. Everything is from discussion. Nothing is clear yet. It’s work,” said the Prague Lions manager.

She recognized that even an excellent audience backdrop can be an advantage during negotiations. “Definitely yes. I hope that the fact that it’s about sports, people and everything in general, rather than just jumping over obstacles, will play a big role in the decision,” she added.

Although the mare Catch Me If You Can was absent from the team competition this year due to health problems and only rode five-star companion competitions in Prague, she will continue to work in the team as a rider. “I’m planning it. I’m ready for it and I’ve already planned the start of the season. Preparations have already started,” Kellner added.
