In a unprecedented political fact that reveals the inmates who cross the government, the Minister of Health, Ginés González García, was unauthorized yesterday in the Senate by President Alberto Fernández, who ordered the oficialismo to advance with the treatment of a project whose approval had been supported by the first lady, Fabiola Yáñez, and that the minister had advised against sanctioning just a few minutes earlier.
The unusual spectacle occurred in a plenary of three commissions of the upper house in which a bill proposing include in the mandatory medical program (PMO) of social works and prepaid the treatment of patients suffering from cystic fibrosis.
Invited by the senators, the Minister of Health questioned in hard terms the initiative, many of whose articles he described as “inapplicable”, considering that it would bear on the health system the cost of an estimated treatment of $ 300,000 per patient per year and that it was going to generate more problems than solutions.

“This law, as it is, does not solve the problem: it will generate a judicial tangle”, affirmed the minister, who advised against the sanction of the project when affirming that it had been approved by the Chamber of Deputies “in the last session” of last year and “without any analysis process” in the commissions.
[R]”We are facing a very good intention, but an incorrect way of approaching it. It will be very difficult for the objectives of the law to be met,” he says.

González García’s words surprised many of the senators what like Julio Cobos (UCR-Mendoza), not only considered as “a bucket of cold water” for patients’ families the minister’s position, but also recalled that the enactment of the law had been supported by the first lady, Fabiola Yáñez, in a spot that she had recorded before the imminent treatment of the initiative in the Senate.
However, and given the firmness with which the official had rejected the project, the legislators decided to back down with their intention to advance with the sanction of the initiative and they agreed to coordinate with the Health portfolio actions to improve the text. In that spirit, they dismissed the minister from the meeting.
However, just a few minutes later that González García abandoned the videoconference the vice president of the ruling bloc, Anabel Fernández Sagasti asked to speak (Frente de Todos-Mendoza), seems to ratify that the oficialismo was going to sign opinion of the project approved by Deputies “as is”.
“The President of the Nation has just communicated with the Vice President of the Nation, Dr. Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, and has asked the official of this house to sign an opinion as is the average sanction of deputies and that corrections or drawbacks that has just been raised by the Minister of Health of the Nation they will be corrected by decree by the President of the Nation “, sentenced the legislator yesterday.
Fernández Sagasti went further and assured that the intention of his bench is to discuss the draft on tables in the session called for this Thursday.
The announcement by the senator from Mendoza not only left the Minister of Health out of place, but it also left official senators and allies, such as Carlos Caserio (Frente de Todos-Córdoba) and Alberto Weretilneck (Together We Are to Río Negro), who had considered reasonable the questions that González García had raised to the project.
