Cuban doctors greeted with honors in Martinique

The Cuban medical delegation arrived in Martinique mid-day, this Friday, June 26, on a special flight by Air Antilles Express. The doctors were greeted at the old air terminal by a delegation from the CTM led by the president of the Executive Council, Alfred Marie-Jeanne.

Hoped for since April, as part of the Covid-19 pandemic, these cuban doctors come to reinforce specialties in tension in Martinique, both at the CHU and at the Saint-Paul clinic.
They will be confined for a week before they can take up their post. They will therefore receive intensive French courses and stay there for three months.

Three months after the decree

The arrival of Cuban doctors on Martinican soil is a first in France. After Italy and Andorra, France, through Martinique, thus becomes the 3rd European State to receive direct help from Cuban health professionals.
Their arrival follows the adoption, in March, of a decree authorizing the intervention of Cuban doctors in overseas departments and territories (Guyana, Martinique, Guadeloupe, Saint-Martin, Saint-Barthélemy, Saint- Pierre-et-Miquelon) to strengthen local teams.
