Crowds at Brabant test streets, GGD points to the Ploegendienst festival

The GGD West Brabant points to the Ploegendienst festival and children’s school camps as possible causes of the increased crowds in the test streets. It is also busier than usual on the Eindhoven test streets. This may have to do with some fires in the Eindhoven exit area of Stratumseind.

In West Brabant, a total of 4800 people were tested in the first three days of this week. By way of comparison: in the preceding weeks, about 2500 tests were taken in seven days.

shift work
Saturday and Sunday the Ploegendienst festival was held at the Galderse Meren in Breda. With 10,000 visitors a day, it was the kick-off of the festival season in West Brabant. An access test allowed people to get here.

In West Brabant it is no longer possible to be tested on Thursday. There is still room on Friday.

No more room in Eindhoven
Adults can no longer go to Eindhoven for a test appointment on Thursday. You can do that on Friday.

According to chairman of the Koninklijke Horeca Eindhoven Ruud Bakker, several fires have been identified at Stratumseind. That would also have played a part in the decision to stay there for the time being no longer allow terraces during evening outings.

Emergency advice OMT
Caretaker Minister of Health Hugo de Jonge has asked the Outbreak Management Team (OMT) for urgent advice due to the increasing number of infections. By far the most positive tests come from young people, De Jonge said. According to the minister, many infections can be traced back to the catering industry.

De Jonge hopes that the advice from the OMT will be ready by the end of the day on Thursday. If the OMT advises additional measures on Thursday, the cabinet will probably decide on Friday whether it will take measures and, if so, which ones.
