A Croatian woman who kept her dead sister’s body in a freezer for years has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for murder. According to the judge, it was proven that Smiljana Srnec (45) killed her sister in 2000 with five blows to the head.
Jasmina Dominic, 23, was last seen in that year, but her family only reported her missing in 2005. Srnec told the police that her sister had gone abroad. She is said to be in France and working on a cruise ship.
Another fourteen years later, after a power outage that led to complaints of nuisance from neighbors, the young woman’s body was found in her sister’s freezer. Srnec was arrested and has been detained ever since.
The judge has not established a motive. Srnec contradicts all allegations and appeals the verdict.
