Zlatko Dalic’s team won medals at the second World Cup in a row: in the match for third place, the Croatians beat Morocco.
The Croatian national team from the first minutes of the match showed their advantage and opened the scoring already in the seventh minute. After an unusual free-kick, Guardiol found himself in a position to scream and headed the ball falling exactly in the corner of the goal. The Moroccans responded immediately, and even after a free kick – after an unsuccessful interception by the opponent, Dari equalized the score from the goalkeeper’s line.
This goal didn’t break the nominal starters, they continued to stick to their line and scored a second time before the break. Orsic shot from the left side of the penalty area into the far corner and the ball from the post flew into the goal – a truly beautiful goal.
The second half went at a more relaxed pace. The Croatians managed to score again and almost took advantage of the fact that the opponents were clearly tired. The Moroccans did not have enough strength for the final onslaught, although in the 96th minute En Nesiri could have put the match into overtime, but the ball after his shot flew just a few centimeters over the crossbar.
2:1 – The Croatians are celebrating “bronze”, and the Moroccan national team should certainly be thanked for their brilliant performance at the tournament.
