Criticizing the Kampung Akuarium Project, PDI-P Faction Remind DKI Provincial Government Targets to Build Hundreds of Thousands of Shelters Page all

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Chairman of the PDI-Struggle Faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Gembong Warsono, criticized the statement of the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan which mentions development Aquarium Village, North Jakarta is to facilitate housing for low-income residents.

According to him, if he wanted to facilitate the residents, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government should have built many flats (flats) as promised during the campaign.

But not by rebuilding the Kampung Akuarium which was previously evicted because it was not suitable for its purpose.

“That designation is not appropriate. Then if you want to accommodate residents who live in slum areas, it’s not there,” said Gembong when contacted. Kompas.com, Tuesday (18/8/2020).

The PDI-Perjuangan faction at the DPRD DKI Jakarta believes that Anies has failed to provide many shelters.

In fact, during his campaign as a candidate for the Governor of DKI Jakarta three years ago, Anies promised to provide hundreds of thousands of shelters for Jakarta residents.

“That’s why we associate it with the provision of livable housing for the citizens of Jakarta, this is Anies’ job failed miserably. His promise of 250 thousand shelters. Until the third year, the target of 200 thousand today has not even tens of thousands because Mr. Anies is focused on providing DP Rp 0 which until today it is not clear where the juntrungan is, “said Gembong.

He said, by rebuilding the Kampung Akuarium, Anies had hit the regulation on the Regional Regulation on Spatial Planning Number 1 of 2014.

In the regional regulation, which is currently still being revised, said Gembong, the location of Kampung Akuarium should not be for residents’ homes.

“So if Mr. Anies argues that he wants to raise the dignity of the citizens of Jakarta, especially in Kampung Akuarium, to be elevated to suitable housing for them, that’s not the place. Not appropriate, don’t be an excuse to violate the rules,” he said.

The Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta carried out the groundbreaking for the construction of the Kampung Susun Aquarium in Penjaringan, North Jakarta, Monday (17/8/2020) yesterday.

Anies said, this proper housing was realized through the construction of a flat village concept.

This concept is the brainchild of four components consisting of elements from the community, experts, facilitators, and government.

“Today we start the program. But it’s complete, when the residents enter the house. This village planning should be an example of village arrangement in Jakarta. Kampung is part of the history of this city. Therefore, the village must continue to live and develop, keeping up with the times,” he said. Anies.

The budget for the construction of Kampung Akuarium did not come purely from the regional revenue and expenditure budget (APBD).

However, it also comes from the developer’s obligation, namely PT Almaron Perkasa, amounting to Rp 62 billion.

Later, on an area of approximately 10,300 meters, 241 type 36 houses consisting of 5 blocks will be built.

Evicted during the Ahok era

Previously, during the Ahok government era, the Kampung Akuarium was evicted by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government in 2016.

Previously, residents’ settlements were evicted because a sheetpile would be built in the building for residents next to the Maritime Museum and Fish Market.

Embankments must also be built to prevent sea water from entering.

During the backfilling process after the curbing, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government found a sinking Dutch fortress near the settlement. Ahok wanted to restore the fort.
