Any mutations and the fact that the coronavirus spreads more easily in the winter, can contribute to a wave of infections this winter, warns FHI chief physician Preben Aavitsland.
– We are on guard against a possible winter wave, says Aavitsland ABC News.
The trend of infection in Norway is rising. In the last seven days, an average of 505 corona infections have been registered per day. The corresponding average seven days ago was 393.
Just under 4.2 million Norwegians have received the first dose of coronary vaccine, while just over 3.7 million have been fully vaccinated.
– Those who choose not to be vaccinated must themselves consider how much risk they want to take. The virus will always be here, so in the long run it will probably take a lot to avoid the virus. Then the question is whether they want to face the virus completely unprotected, or whether they want one or two doses inside first, says Aavitsland.
The health authorities advise people over the age of 65 to take a third dose of vaccine. The same applies to those with severe immune deficiency.
Corona vaccines do not provide full protection against covid-19, but make the risk of infection and serious illness far less.
