Several testimonials from AirPods Pro users, here, was or was, report unpleasant crackling noises when using the headphones in Noise Reduction or Transparency mode (but not when noise canceling is turned off).
These annoyances, which usually appear a few months after the purchase of the product, are heard when the headphones move, for example when the user walks, when he clears his throat, turns his head, or when he touches a headset while simply. Suffice to say that it hits the system quickly.
There is really no solution, except to replace the AirPods Pro with Apple. The manufacturer recently put online a assistance sheet concerning static noises or crackling noises, but the advice given is basic and obviously does nothing to solve the problem (read: Apple: advice in case of problems with AirPods Pro).
For our part, we have heard that crackles can be heard when the acoustic membrane has taken on water or perspiration. This concern concerns all AirPods models, not only the Pro, but for the in-ear model the membrane is a little better protected from ablutions thanks to the silicone tip. But it sometimes happens that the membrane tears, which causes these little noises.
Apple Explain that the AirPods Pro are resistant to water and perspiration, but that they are not waterproof (the product is certified IPX4). There is no question of wearing headphones in the pool, in the shower, in a hammam or sauna, and of course they will avoid the washing machine like the plague! If exposed to a liquid, the manufacturer recommends wiping them with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth.
AirPods simply are neither waterproof nor water resistant. Even if they present all the same a certain level of resistance, it is better to avoid unpleasant surprises; in case of sweating, Apple advise clean the headphones with a dry microfiber cloth.
