Lewis Hamilton managed to win the Grand Prix of Russia, but the reigning world champion did this with some aches in his body. The Briton says he would not have been able to race without the help of Angela Cullen, his physiotherapist.

Hamilton still had neck pain in Russia. The complaints of this were caused on Monza by Max Verstappen, who parked his car right on top of Hamilton’s car. The Briton seemed to get away well in the crash with Verstappen, as the rear wheel of Red Bull’s car smashed on top of the halo. However, part of the tire ended up right in the hole where Hamilton sat with his head. So he had to deal with a blow and it now seems to be bothering him more than originally thought. He would not have been able to race without Cullen’s help, says Hamilton.

Hamilton has been assisted by physiotherapist Cullen for some time and this lady has ensured that the Mercedesdriver was able to race at the Russian Grand Prix. At Sochi Hamilton still struggled with aches and pains. “I woke up in the morning with a little pain in my neck,” said the reigning world champion in conversation with Motorsport-Total.com. On Saturday, Hamilton was treated with acupuncture by Cullen, in order to remedy his complaints before the race started.

The video below shows Hamilton lying on the treatment table and getting needles pricked in his neck by Cullen. “Ange has worked on it. She has done a fantastic job over the past two weeks,” said the Stevenage driver. Without her help, he may not have been able to race in Russia. “I wouldn’t have made it without her. I was just determined to do the best job possible.”
