Friedrich is promoted to sports director at Hertha BSC: “Can do some things better”

So far performance manager

Former international Arne Friedrich becomes new sports director at Hertha BSC. The Berliners announced this on Sunday and called no contract term. Friedrich, who was brought to the club by Performance Coach Jürgen Klinsmann in November 2019, should continue to work closely with the team.

“As our sports director, he will be the link between the club management, the coaching team and the team, and will bring in the experience he has gained as a successful player and during his various further training courses after his career,” said Herthas sports director Michael Preetz. Friedrich added: “Especially in the current constellation, working together is a lot of fun and I have the feeling that we can do a lot together.”

According to the “kicker”, Friedrich should be involved in all personnel decisions. Hertha had already expressed great interest in continuing to work with Friedrich in March and has now brought the talks to a positive end. Friedrich initially held his position as performance manager until the end of the season.

Trainer Bruno Labbadia can also imagine working with Friedrich in the future. “We want to make the best use of it. I would also like to have Arne close to the team if he wants to, ”Labbadia had already said when he was introduced in Berlin:“ I am glad that he is there because he knows the club well. ”
