Florence, 12 January 2022 – In Tuscany there are 534,357 i cases of positivity al Coronavirus, 13,341 more compared to yesterday (5,060 confirmed with molecular swab and 8,281 by rapid antigen test). New cases are 2.6% more than the previous day’s total. The healed grew by 3.1% and reached 347,888 (65.1% of total cases). The vaccines currently administered: 7,514,903
The rate of positivity
Today, 25,068 molecular swabs and 47,127 rapid antigenic swabs were performed, of which 18.5% were positive. On the other hand, 19,163 subjects were tested today (with antigenic and / or molecular swabs, excluding control swabs), of which the 69.6% tested positive. The currently positive ones are 178,714 today, + 1.7% compared to yesterday. The hospitalized are 1,276 (46 more than yesterday), of which 123 in intensive care (1 more). Today there are 34 deaths: 19 men and 15 women with an average age of 80.5 years.
The average age
The average age of 13,341 new positives today is approximately 38 years (21% are under 20, 26% between 20 and 39, 36% between 40 and 59, 14% between 60 and 79, 3% have 80 years or older).
Cases on the territory
The following are the cases of positivity in the area with the change compared to yesterday (5,060 confirmed with molecular swab and 8,281 by rapid antigenic test). There are 159,600 total cases to date in Florence (4,110 more than yesterday), 43,662 in Prato (856 more), 46,474 in Pistoia (1,081 more), 26,101 in Massa (714 more), 52,639 in Lucca (1,339 more), 61,794 in Pisa (1,644 more), 39,229 in Livorno (1,073 more), 47,766 in Arezzo (1,210 more), 34,851 in Siena (738 more), 21,686 in Grosseto (576 more). 555 positive cases were reported in Tuscany, but residing in other regions.
There are 6,282 cases found today in the Central Local Health Authority, 4,535 in the North West, 2,524 in the South East. Tuscany is in 9th place in Italy in terms of number of cases (including residents and non-residents), with about 14,470 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (Italian average about 13,125 x100,000, yesterday’s figure). The provinces of notification with the highest rate are Prato with 16,460 cases x100,000 inhabitants, Pistoia with 16,012, Florence with 15,985, the lowest Grosseto with 9,955.
In isolation, hospitalized, healed
Overall, 177,438 people are in isolation at home, as they have mild symptoms that do not require hospital care, or are symptom-free (2,862 more than yesterday, up 1.6%).
There are 17,710 (2,290 more than yesterday, plus 14.9%) people, also isolated, in active surveillance because they have had contact with infected people (ASL Centro 5,710, North West 7,684, South East 4,316).
The people hospitalized in beds dedicated to Covid patients today are a total of 1,276 (46 more than yesterday, plus 3.7%), 123 in intensive care (1 more than yesterday, plus 0.8%).
The total number of people healed are 347,888 (10,362 more than yesterday, plus 3.1%): 0 people clinically healed (stable compared to yesterday), that is, who became asymptomatic after presenting clinical manifestations associated with the infection and 347,888 (10,362 more compared to yesterday, plus 3.1%) declared healed in all respects, the so-called viral healings, with negative swab.
The deaths
Today, 34 deaths have been recorded. Regarding the province of residence, the 34 people who died are: 11 in Florence, 2 in Prato, 2 in Pistoia, 1 in Massa Carrara, 4 in Lucca, 4 in Pisa, 5 in Livorno, 3 in Siena, 2 in Grosseto. The verification carried out in the Livorno area made it possible to identify 37 patients with Covid who died within 6 months, from June 15 to January 6, who had not been communicated in the past months. There are 26 men and 11 women with an average age of 78.6 years. Regarding the province of residence, 35 are in Livorno, 1 in Pisa and 1 in Lucca.
7,755 have died since the beginning of the epidemic as follows: 2,476 in Florence, 682 in Prato, 716 in Pistoia, 563 in Massa Carrara, 734 in Lucca, 778 in Pisa, 491 in Livorno, 573 in Arezzo, 397 in Siena, 246 in Grosseto, 99 people died on Tuscan soil but were residents outside the region.
The Tuscan raw mortality rate (number of deaths / resident population) for Covid-19 is 210.0 x100.000 residents against the 235.6 x100.000 of the Italian average (12th region). As for the provinces, the highest mortality rate is found in Massa Carrara (296.6 x100.000), Prato (257.1 x100.000) and Florence (248.0 x100.000), the lowest at Grosseto (112.9 x100.000).
