At the start of the first confinement, on March 17, 2019, the Melun hospital (Seine-et-Marne) had 22 intensive care beds. Then the service was adapted according to the arrivals of the sick. “The rooms were not equipped with mechanical ventilation machines and respirators,” says Meerhan Monchi, head of the hospital’s intensive care unit. Now, they are thanks to the equipment. A total of twelve machines were purchased in this way. The establishment now has 34 potential beds.
